We believe that education should ignite curiosity and inspire creativity. Our curriculum is carefully structured to ensure that all students, regardless of their starting point, are supported to thrive. Through high-quality teaching and personalised learning, we help students unlock their potential and build the confidence to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
Learning at Jewellery Quarter Academy goes beyond the classroom. Our curriculum is enriched with co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities that develop leadership, resilience, and emotional intelligence. Whether through music, sport, the arts, or enterprise, students are encouraged to explore their interests and talents.
We are proud to be a school that serves and celebrates its local community. Our students engage with local history, collaborate with community partners, and take part in meaningful projects that foster a sense of belonging and purpose. These experiences help students understand how they can make a positive impact; locally and beyond.
Our curriculum is underpinned by a clear focus on knowledge acquisition and skill development. We sequence learning to ensure that students build deep understanding over time, connecting ideas across subjects and applying their learning in real-world contexts. Focus Days and enrichment experiences bring learning to life, offering immersive opportunities that broaden horizons and inspire lifelong learning.
At Jewellery Quarter Academy, we nurture well-rounded individuals who are ready to lead, contribute, and succeed. Our curriculum is a journey of self-discovery, ambition, and excellence, preparing every student to shape their future with confidence and purpose.
Our assessment model is designed to support students in knowing more, remembering more and doing more over time. Assessment is carefully planned across the academic year through progress checks, formal examinations, mock examinations and external examinations, providing regular opportunities to monitor achievement and identify next steps in learning. Parents and carers are kept informed through scheduled progress reporting and parents’ evenings.
At Key Stage 3, assessment is curriculum-led and focused on students’ developing knowledge, understanding and skills rather than simply grades. Subject-specific assessment grids help students understand what success looks like at different stages of their learning journey and provide clear criteria linked directly to the taught curriculum. This approach enables staff to identify strengths, address gaps in learning and ensure every student is supported to make strong progress across all subjects.
This assessment framework sits alongside our wider commitment to high expectations, responsive teaching and continuous improvement, ensuring that assessment informs learning and helps every student achieve their potential.
