We start another half term today with optimism and begin with a focus on basic equipment. All students are expected to have the equipment for learning which is clear on our website and this forms a focus this week.

Assemblies this week focus on Remembrance. Our CCF cadets will of course be leading the Remembrance events at Warstone Lane Cemetery on Friday, laying the traditional wreath at the war memorial and also reading poems. Poppies will be on sale all week at the school.

Year 11 continue their additional hours after school for the next 3 weeks until the nights draw in and get darker and some of our Year 11 students are also spending their next two Saturdays working with senior leaders and PetXI on key Maths and English revision. A timetable for Golden Hour is here and there is no Year 10 additional lesson after school this half term.

It’s a busy first week back with students involved in activities with the Hippodrome and preparing for the Echo Eternal performance in January – an important event in our calendar. 7Emerald also start their swimming lessons today.

Attendance was stronger than the equivalent half term last year and I’d like to thank parents and students for their commitment to ensuring they attend every day. It was brilliant to see students rewarded for this on the final day of term with a range of lovely prizes. We expect another strong half term of attendance.

If you missed our newsletter, a link to it is here and it captures the highlights of last half term.

A reminder that next Monday (13th November) is a training day and students should not attend. All key events are on our website.

We have Coffee Morning this Wednesday with drinks and staff available from 9-11am.

As always, you can call the Academy on 0121 729 7220, leaving a message if the line is busy and we will get back to you. Our line is very busy in the daytime so I encourage parents to use the voicemail facility by pressing option 2. If you would like urgent support, you can always reach Miss Chudasama (our Designated Safeguarding Lead) on option 4.
