I hope you all had a nice weekend. It promises to be a wet week ahead so it’s important that students bring a coat each day. We have plenty of dry space for students at break and lunch too.

It was brilliant to welcome so many Year 11 students and parents to our Year 11 Information and Careers event on Thursday. For any parents or students who missed it, a link to the presentation is here. This has also been emailed to all Year 11 parents.

We were joined by Abby Morris who I introduced to parents as our new Deputy CEO. Abby joins a team of people who join CORE and work across all our schools to continue to develop the education provision for our children.

Year 11 begin their after school interventions from today, aimed at addressing any gaps in knowledge. Our ‘Golden Hour’ timetable for Year 11 students is here.

We hold our annual Student Parliament elections this week at JQA with our local MP, Shabana Mahmood opening the elections with a video message. All students will vote to elect a form rep in Years 7-10 who will join the Student Leadership Team for our Parliament to continue to shape and develop our school.

Attendance is improving across the school and I’d like to thank all parents and students for their commitment to this. I have counter-signed a letter from Birmingham City Council regarding attendance that all parents should read.

Our Birchfield Harriers are re-commencing their training on Wednesday at Alexander Stadium.

As always, you can call the Academy on 0121 729 7220, leaving a message if the line is busy and we will get back to you. Our line is very busy in the daytime so I encourage parents to use the voicemail facility by pressing option 2. If you would like urgent support, you can always reach Miss Chudasama (our Designated Safeguarding Lead) on option 4.

We welcome you warmly to our weekly Coffee Morning on Wednesday between 9 and 11am.
