As the cold weather continues, it’s really important to keep encouraging students to attend on time every day. Developing that resilience with our young people is an important trait.

We have Year 11 Parents’ Evening on Thursday from 4.30-6.30 and appointments with staff can now be booked via our SchoolCloud system. We look forward to seeing Year 11 students and parents on site from 4.30.

On Friday, it was great to see student leaders and staff decorating our Christmas trees – you may have seen some pictures on our socials.

This week on Friday we have our annual ‘Christmas Jumper Day’. This is in aid of Save The Children who we know are particularly active in current conflict zones. Students are encouraged to wear a Christmas Jumper instead of their usual grey v-neck jumper and/or wear a festive accessory. Last year, we saw all sorts of wacky accessories, including Santa beards, reindeer antler hairbands and much more. No cash will be collected by tutors – instead parents can complete the suggested donation via ParentPay.

I would like to remind parents of the current Homework Policy. Students should be accessing Reading Plus or GCSEPod, MathsWatch and Seneca every night. The expectation is that 2 hours a week is devoted to these platforms. There may also be ‘additional’ homework set by subject teachers. This can be found here on Class Charts: https://www.classcharts.com/homework/calendar/Jewellery-Quarter-Academy

It is very important that students are completing work on these platforms regularly. We also offer a Homework Club to support students to get into these good habits.

A reminder that the end of term on Friday 22nd December sees students dismissed at 12.25.

We also have a Year 10 Parents’ Evening coming up on the calendar too and you can find all Events here.

As always, you can call the Academy on 0121 729 7220, leaving a message if the line is busy and we will get back to you. Our line is very busy in the daytime so I encourage parents to use the voicemail facility by pressing option 2. If you would like urgent support, you can always reach Miss Chudasama (our Designated Safeguarding Lead) on option 4.
