We’ve nearly come to the end of September and what a start it’s been at JQA. Class Charts is showing us how positive students are about their learning with over 10,000 positives being awarded on the platform already! Our students are indeed shining!

Year 10 have been most impressive with the strongest attendance and the most positives. Indeed, I welcomed some of them for Hot Chocolate last week and I wonder who will qualify this week. I look forward to giving those Golden Ticket invites out on Thursday afternoon. Golden Hour for Year 10 starts this week on Tuesday with students remaining until 4.10 to work on Options and invest extra time in these subjects before Year 11.

Students are taking key assessments this week in our computer room and we thank students and parents in advance for their support with this.

It is important that parents understand their responsibilities when it comes to attendance and I have co-signed a letter from Birmingham City Council outlining our expectations.

I’d like to remind parents of students in Year 7 to be respectful to residents when it comes to dropping off and picking up your children. Please park sensibly and courteously.

Our Equiano Centre is back in action after some repairs so we look forward to welcoming families for Coffee Morning on Wednesday.

The termly Student Survey is now open on our app. Please can you encourage your child to complete this via the Piota app.

Assemblies this week focus on European Day of Languages and I look forward to sharing a short video showcasing our diversity later in the week on our social media.

As always, you can call the Academy on 0121 729 7220, leaving a message if the line is busy and we will get back to you. Our line is very busy in the daytime so I encourage parents to use the voicemail facility by pressing option 2. If you would like urgent support, you can always reach Miss Chudasama (our Designated Safeguarding Lead) on option 4.
